PDF Trick You Wish You Knew Before
This blog is going to be real with you: If you are not a very good writer, then pick up tricks wherever you can, and this blog will be so useful to you. It seemed like a simple enough trick that anyone could do, but now that you can try it yourself, you’ll realize how useful it really is!
Whiteout a PDF
If you need to cover up a mistake, there are several ways to do so. You can use the whiteout tool (which is located under the edit menu) or the eraser tool (found under the tools menu). Both work well, but if you don’t have access to those tools, there are other options as well. The paint bucket tool will fill in a selected area with color; however, this does not allow for precise coverage—you’ll need to take your finger off of it every once in a while and let it refill with paint. Another way is by using the pen tool.
Share a PDF by e-mail
They are sure you’ve stumbled across an article online that you wish was available in a PDF format. Well, here’s the good news: You can e-mail almost any webpage or document to yourself by right-clicking on it and selecting “Save as PDF.” However, if the file is large, this may take some time—so be patient!
Draw on a PDF
If you’re looking to draw on a PDF, there are three main ways to do it:
- Using your finger or a stylus to draw directly on the page.
- Using your mouse and drawing tool like Photoshop’s pen tool.
- By downloading an app that allows for freehand annotations and markups on top of the existing file.
You can use the same syntax to edit PDFs. Simply add -edit to the URL and you’ll be able to open it in your browser and make changes. According to experts like Adobe Acrobat, “Use the drawing tool to freehand draw whatever you want.”
Convert a PNG to PDF
If your office uses the PNG format for images, you can convert them to PDF with Skitch. To do so, save the image as a PNG and then open it in Skitch. From there, click on Edit > Convert to PDF.
Save an image from a PDF
If you’re on a computer and want to capture an image from a PDF, simply press the Print Screen button. This will copy everything in your browser and put it on your clipboard. You can then paste it into any program that accepts images, like Microsoft Paint or Photoshop.
This trick is especially useful when you have a difficult-to-read document that needs reformatting for better readability: Simply take screenshots of each page at different zoom levels, then use one as the background for another screen with the text highlighted. This lets you see what’s happening without having to squint at tiny print!
Take notes with your finger on a PDF
PDFs are great, but they can be a bit tedious to edit because they’re created to be read and not edited. However, if you have the right tools at your disposal, it’s possible to take notes on PDFs using your finger or stylus.
PDFs are just like any other file format. You can do a lot with them, and it’s worth knowing about the options if you work with PDFs regularly. If you’re not sure what to try first, go ahead and start editing those whiteouts!
